There is currently one month before I need to arrive in South Korea for EPIK. It is hard to believe that this dream I once had is quickly becoming a reality. It seems like there is still so much to get ready for. I sent my paperwork to the Korean Consulate in Chicago earlier this week, and according to their website, it only takes a couple of days to process. Once I get the E2 visa, I'll be able to buy my ticket. They are currently going for anywhere between $600-700, but the good news is that I will be reimbursed that amount when I arrive.
I've also started to make a list of what I need to pack. It's difficult, because I'm not sure what the school will want me to wear when I teach. I'm going to play it safe, and bring a little of everything. Gwangju is 1.5 million people, so I should be able to buy whatever I need there.
I am hopeful that the school will have good resources for me. I have some teaching materials I'd like to bring, but it depends how much spare room there is left in my suitcase. I'm just excited to get there, get settled, and begin teaching!
